Custom & OEM

Custom dice for your game

GlassStaff is Europe's biggest tabletop dice brand, based in Boskoop, the Netherlands, and we design everything we sell in house. We put the same designers, materials and quality checks behind custom dice for Kickstarter campaigns, board game publishers, brands and communities: the craft of our own CritStones line, shaped to your world instead of ours.

Who we make them for

From one campaign to a full product line

Our own range, dice and packaging alike, is designed in house, checked by our own people before it ships, and held in warehouses in the EU and the US. Every part of that is available for your project too.

Kickstarter & crowdfunding

A dice set that matches your campaign's world, ready to show in your video and deliver on schedule. We help you plan quantities and timelines around your funding calendar.

Board game & TTRPG publishers

Custom engraved faces, brand colors, or a full dice upgrade for your game. From a single accent die to a boxed set with packaging designed in house.

Brands, shops & communities

Your logo on the high face, your colors in the resin. Custom dice as merch, as a shop exclusive, or as the gift your community actually keeps on the table. Shops that want the regular CritStones range can go straight to Stock CritStones.

The material question

Why not just standard acrylic?

Standard acrylic dice do a job: they are light, cheap, and identical to the dice in every other box on the shelf. Sometimes that is exactly right. But the dice are the one component your players touch every single turn, and material is the difference between a component and a keepsake.

  • Weight and feel. Metal, glass and stone have real heft in the hand; players notice before the first roll lands.
  • Faces that last. Engraved and inked numbers instead of printed ones that wear away halfway through a campaign.
  • Depth acrylic cannot fake. Liquid cores, inclusions, shimmer, real glass and stone; they photograph beautifully on a campaign page and better in person.
  • The whole box feels it. One component with real weight and finish changes how the rest of the box is judged, and what backers feel it was worth.
  • A signature, not a commodity. Standard acrylic looks like everyone else's game. Custom dice make yours recognisable from across the table.

We hold our own CritStones to this standard every day. It is why every one of them carries the CritStones Promise, our lifetime warranty.

What we can make

Every material in our range, available custom

Our own CritStones line runs in six material families, and every one of them can be made custom:

  • Metal
  • Sharp-edge resin
  • Liquid core
  • Glass
  • Gemstone
  • Hollow metal
  • Custom logos or symbols engraved on any face, including the high face
  • Your colors, from brand-matched solids to shimmer, glitter and multi-pour blends
  • Inclusions and effects: liquid cores, foil, glow pigments and more
  • Custom numbering, fonts and face layouts, checked for fairness and readability
  • Full sets, single d20s, d6 pools for board games, or oddballs like a d100
  • Packaging designed in house, from tuck boxes to retail packaging built for a shop shelf, because the box is part of the product
  • Officially licensed products: we work under licensing agreements ourselves and are at home with IP approval rounds

The process

From sketch to shipped, without the guesswork

You do not need finished artwork or factory experience. Bring the idea; we handle the road from there and tell you exactly what happens at every step.

Brief

Tell us what you are making, roughly how many you need and when. We reply with the options that fit and a quote.

Design

Our in-house designers turn your world into dice: renders and face proofs to approve before anything is made.

Samples

Physical samples in your hands, so you approve the real thing, not a picture of it.

Production

Full production with the same quality control we run on our own CritStones line. Every batch checked before it ships.

Delivery

Delivered to you, your backers or your warehouse. With warehouses in the EU and the US, we can also fulfil for you on both continents.

Why GlassStaff

A dice brand, not an agency

Plenty of agencies will forward your files to a factory. Dice are our whole trade: we design them, test them, guarantee them and sell them on two continents, so we know where a production run goes right and where it goes wrong. Every set is designed and quality-checked in Boskoop, produced with our long-term manufacturing partners, and shipped from our own warehouses in the EU and the US. We are also the kind of people who stop at a convention booth to argue about dice and stare at a box for too long. The reaction we design for is the one from across the table: "Wait, what is that?"

Questions

Custom dice FAQ

Where can I have custom dice made in Europe?

Right here. GlassStaff, Europe's biggest tabletop dice brand, designs custom dice in house in Boskoop, the Netherlands: resin, liquid core, metal, hollow metal, glass and gemstone dice with custom faces, colors and packaging, produced with our long-term manufacturing partners and shipped from warehouses in the EU and the US.

Are premium dice really better than standard acrylic dice?

For the right project, yes. Metal, glass and stone carry real weight in the hand, engraved faces outlast printed ones, and liquid cores and inclusions give a depth that molded acrylic cannot match. Acrylic is the right call when cost per unit is everything; better materials are the right call when the dice are meant to be the piece players remember.

What is the minimum order for custom dice?

It depends on the material and the design. Resin runs start far lower than metal or gemstone. Tell us what you have in mind and the volumes you are considering, and we will give you the numbers in the first reply.

What does a custom run cost?

Price follows material, complexity and volume, so we quote per project rather than publish a misleading flat rate. The quote is itemised and free, and there is no obligation attached to asking.

How long does a custom project take?

Design and sampling take weeks; production and freight take longer and vary by material and season. Plan in months, not weeks, from brief to delivered dice. When we quote, you get a realistic timeline for your specific project, including buffer for approvals. For crowdfunding campaigns we plan backwards from your delivery promise.

Do you help with the design?

Yes. Our in-house design team can work from anything between a rough idea and finished vector art. You approve renders and face proofs before production, and physical samples before the full run.

Can you produce licensed products?

Yes. We work with licences for our own products too, so we know how officially licensed merchandise works in practice: artwork approval rounds, brand guidelines, and the paperwork that keeps everyone happy. Bring your licence, or tell us about the rights situation in your first email and we will help you work it out.

Who owns the design?

You do. Your artwork and your commissioned designs stay yours; we will not sell your custom dice to anyone else.

Can you also handle fulfilment?

Yes. With warehouses in the EU and the US we can deliver in bulk to you, or store and ship for you on both continents. Useful for Kickstarter fulfilment where backers sit on both sides of the Atlantic.

Start the conversation

Tell us about your game. We will bring the dice.

One email is enough to start: what you are making, roughly how many, and when you need them. The reply comes from someone in our workshop in Boskoop who designs dice and plays with them, not from a form letter.
