The workshop in Boskoop

Meet the Guild

Seven humans who design, pack and stand behind every set that leaves the workshop, and who play the same games you do. Meet the people on the other side of the box.

Every guild starts somewhere. This one started with one person drawing in the quiet hours, making things for the love of it and hoping someone out there would love them too. Someone did. Thousands did, actually.

These days Cedrique is the one holding the map: keeping the craftsmen supplied, the wagons rolling, and every member of the party pointed the same way, at least until something new and shiny wanders past the workshop window.

Ask him where the guild is headed and clear your afternoon. The plans run far past the horizon, and he means to walk the whole route with the amazing crew beside him.

“If the realm doesn't have it yet, we'll forge it.”

Deal Brokering 18
Passing a Game Store Without Walking In 3
Politely Persistent Emails 19

Machiel spent years raising trading posts for other guilds and keeping them running. Then this one made him a better offer: stop building them and start filling them. He packed for the road and never looked back.

Now he keeps the trade routes open. Most days you will find him deep in conversation with shopkeepers across twenty countries, talking through new sets until the other end of the line is as excited as he is. When he is on a call, the whole workshop notices. The enthusiasm travels at full volume.

Between calls he needs dice in hand the way others need coffee, so he founded the guild's own weekly campaign to keep the itch at bay.

“Yes, I can play tonight.”

Doing Five Jobs Before Lunch 20

Scrolling Past a Comment Without Replying 3

Natalie worked in an entirely different trade, but being married to the Guildmaster turns shop talk into supper talk. At some point the guild stopped being his stories and started being her plan.

She joined, and within a season nobody could remember how anything ran without her. Whatever you need in these halls, the answer is the same: find Natalie. She is the healer who keeps the whole party standing, patched up, paid, and pointed forward.

She seems very nice and lovely, and she is. But that ends at the gaming table. Invite her to your D&D session and all she wants to do is hit big bad evil guys in the face, without all that time-consuming roleplaying.

“Is it my turn yet? I want to attack.”

Leaving an Order for Tomorrow 2
Tape-Gun Quickdraw 15

Nie came to the guild from a different trade, took one look at the vaults, and rebuilt them to his own standard. That standard turned out to be a great deal higher than anyone had planned for.

These days every crate and drawer has its appointed place, and nothing goes missing on his watch. Orders come in, orders go out, and between the two stands Nie, steady as the shelving itself.

After hours he keeps to smaller worlds: epics about long roads and small heroes, castles built brick by tiny brick, a home forge spinning wonders from plastic thread. An artificer who builds things properly, wherever he is.

“One does not simply lose a box.”

Making Packaging Look Cool 19
Spotting a Misaligned Logo at Ten Meters 17
Calling a Design Finished 2

Jessie carried her craft through other workshops before this one, years of making beautiful things and making the things around them beautiful too. When a dice guild came calling, the D&D player in her did not need to hear the offer twice.

Now she shapes what a new set becomes: how it looks in the hand, how it stands out on a shopkeeper's shelf, and what happens after the unboxing. Her rule is that the chest should be worth as much as the treasure. If a box ends up in service on someone's table instead of in the bin, Jessie has done her job.

The guild has learned one lesson above all: hand Jessie a plain box and it will not stay plain for long.

“Every treasure deserves a good chest.”

Pallet Tetris 19

Finding That One Box 18

Fabio swore the keeper's oath not long ago, and the vaults have felt it since. His charge is simple to say and endless to do: the shelves stay full, the stock stays counted, and nothing runs out on his watch.

That means thinking in shipments before they exist: cargo crossing borders, freight on far seas, and a warehouse that has to run a little smarter every month. If the guild never seems to run out of anything, that is not luck. That is Fabio, three moves ahead.

He is also the voice that answers when travelers write in about their orders. Package gone quiet? Forgot your own house number? Fabio has seen it all, fixes it without fuss, and sends every parcel back on the road to your gates.

“Your package is not lost. It is taking the scenic route.”

Talking to Strangers 19
Booth Building 16
Resisting a Pack of Pokémon 1

Some of the guild keep to the workshop. Richard appears when the banners go up. Fair season is his season: when the guild rolls into a convention hall, he is on the crew that raises the booth before the doors open and takes it down long after they close.

The hours in between are the real work, and they are all talk. Richard talks with everyone: the curious, the collectors, the players hunting something heavy to roll. Ten hours on his feet, the same question asked a hundred ways, and he still answers like it is the first time anyone thought of it.

He has one documented weakness. Convention halls are full of stalls selling Pokémon packs, and Richard cannot walk past one. No binder, no checklist. He buys the packs, tears them open and hopes, and there is usually a sealed one in his pocket, saved for the quiet hour after the doors shut.

“The next pack is always the good one.”

Beyond the workshop

The guild is far bigger than seven.

The crew in the workshop is only the start. Come event season, a troop of event helpers joins us at conventions and TTRPG events across Europe to build the booths, run the demo tables and be there when someone picks up a set and asks what on earth it is. That moment never gets old, and there is always room for one more pair of hands.
